Shah Rukh Khan was your typical Delhi boy before he became a superstar. He remembered his growing up years in the capital in a special episode of The Kapil Sharma Show in 2016 and recounted a funny incident about how a group of rowdy boys beat him up for responding to a girl as his girlfriend.
Shah Rukh tells the Story:
Shah Rukh shared the words, “Key Green Park mein tha.” Maine Ek Banayi Thi Nayi Nayi Girlfriend. Delhi wale jaise bolte hai girlfriend kya thi, girlfriend kya thi. Kuch nahi thi, aise hi saath main ghoom rahi thi bechari ladki (I was there in Green Park. I had just made a new girlfriend. Actually, she wasn’t a girlfriend, really a poor girl who roamed with me.)
The Thing Actually Happened there:
They were assaulted by a group of ‘gunde style (rowdy)’ boys, whom he named ‘shode (idiots)’ while Shah Rukh was out with a girl. Ek ne mere ko rok liya, Yeh kaun hai bola ki ‘? ‘Main thoda St Columbas School ka tha, Main kaha,’ She’s my girlfriend.’
He said, ‘Nahi hai girlfriend, Teri bhabhi hai.’ (One of them interrupted me and asked, ‘Who is she?’ I used to school at St. Columba’s, so I replied confidently, ‘She’s my girlfriend.’ The boy said she’s your sister-in-law.’) not your girlfriend.
Shah Rukh insisted that his girl was his girlfriend, but the boy declined. Khatam nahi hua do koot koot ke maare unhone mujhe, girlfriend ka mate. Ek ke haath main na kulhadh tha, mere muh pe kulhadh de ke maara. Ab yeh zamana aa gaya hai main biwi ke saath bhi Delhi mein nikalta hoon aur koi poochta hai kaun hai toh main kehta hoon meri bhabhi hai (I could hardly get my mouth out of the word girlfriend and they beat me up.
One had a cup of clay in his hand, and he threw it over my face. Even now, I’m so terrified that even if I go out to Delhi with my wife and then someone asks who she is, I reply she’s my sister-in-law.)
Shah Rukh about his new film on Twitter:
Shah Rukh, who was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero as a vertically-challenged man, lately dropped hints during an Ask Me Something session on Twitter about his next release.
Without disclosing too many details, he said he’d watch his next movie in theatres: “… will start filming, then post-production, then normalizing cinemas … will take a year or so, I suppose.”
He signed Siddharth Anand’s Pathan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, according to sources, and will start shooting later in the month.
