Iyer Praises Bowlers’ Nerve as India Beat West Indies in Indore

India captain Shreyas Iyer praised his bowlers for holding their nerve in the closing stages as the hosts beat the West Indies by 14 runs in the third T20 International in Indore on Sunday night. The result gave India a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, with two games still to play.

Bowlers Show Clarity Under Pressure

Chasing 224, the West Indies overcame a slow start and again threatened a mammoth target, as they had done in the second T20I. India’s bowlers stayed composed, however, and restricted the visitors to 209/7. Iyer said the clarity in his bowlers’ plans was clearly visible. “Each and every bowler was up for the challenge, and that’s what you want,” he said at the post-match presentation. He added that the bowlers were decisive in their execution and confident about what they wanted to do.

Abhishek and Kishan Set the Platform

India had earlier posted 223 all out in 20 overs. Opener Abhishek Sharma led the way with a blistering 69 off 30 balls, while Ishan Kishan gave the innings further impetus with 37 off just 18 deliveries. Prince Yadav chipped in with an unbeaten 13 off six balls late on, helping India reach a total that proved just enough. Iyer singled out Abhishek and Kishan as key to the batting effort.

For the West Indies, the defeat came down to execution. Their bowlers struggled to control the game, and they found the dew a challenge as the evening wore on. They did build some strong partnerships in the chase, but they could not close the gap in the final overs. With the series now tilted in India’s favour, the West Indies will need sharper discipline in the next match to stay in contention.
