Snapchat published its second report on a global friendship that was performed by 30,000 individuals in 16 nations. This time, given the pandemic that has infected people worldwide, the research was fascinating. In its latest study, Snapchat has illustrated how friendship has been impacted in India.
As per the Snapchat’s Survey:
In order to stay in contact with friends and family, and even for jobs, Covid-19 has contributed to an increase in digital contacts. Nearly four out of five friends relied on digital contact to stay in contact mostly during the lockdown, according to Snapchat’s survey. The study also emphasized that the debates went broader than subjects at the surface table.
Naturally, the pandemic has made people feel lonely and the same has been mirrored in the survey from Snapchat. The study showed that, since the pandemic began, 51 percent of people have felt alone. This is 13% more than the days before Covid.
However, digital contact wasn’t enough for everyone. Sixty-nine percent of respondents said that not meeting friends made them feel sad, and 59 percent of them felt they were not reaching out to their friends. 50 percent of them felt their relationships with friends were weakened by social isolation.
Survey result in Percentage:
Overall, 44 percent of persons said their friendships have been affected by the pandemic. 33 % of responders said they no longer felt close to their colleagues, while 67% observed the reverse. However, the pandemic has made people depend more on friendship with individuals who make attempts to reach out to friends.
Snapchat’s study reported that 79 percent lost contact with a close friend globally, with the number higher in India at 88 percent. 66 percent chose remote connectivity when it came to rekindling old partnerships.
But about 38 percent of them answered that they didn’t know how to reconnect with old/lost friends using digital contact.
In its study, Snapchat highlighted how very little services for people dealing with friendships are available. Listening, remaining present, and taking responsibility among friends are some suggested recommendations.
