Sonia Gandhi says everyone except the Modi government has heard cries’ of migrants.

Leading the party’s charge, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in an online protest “Speak Up India” demands for cash for the poor.

On Thursday, Congress President said that everyone in India except the Modi government has heard the cries of lakhs of stranded migrant workers, who have been forced to travel hundreds of kilometres on foot to return home. The Congress chief has led the party’s charge in an online protest “Speak Up India” and demanded direct cash transfers to the poor workers. 

Sonia Gandhi says “Unlock the Coffers”:

Sonia Gandhi has demanded the government to “unlock the coffers” and layout relief to the Indians in crisis. In a video message shared on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, Sonia Gandhi accused the Modi government of being oblivious to the plight of small businesses and migrant workers. The campaign demands a monthly pay of Rs 7500 for six months to be given to poverty-stricken families, also the number of working days under MGNREGA to be increased to 200 days. In the video, Sonia Gandhi further stated that the entire nation endured the pain (Coronavirus pandemic) but the government is oblivious to it. The online campaign involves Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Robert Vadra, CMs and party ministers. 

Ajay Maken, Congress’ spokesman, said, ”About 57.30 lakh workers participated in the campaign and uploaded videos. #SpeakUpIndia was on top trend worldwide and was the top trend in India from 10 am to 5 pm. The reach of our message was up to 10 crore people and the number of people who saw the message would be 3-4 times more.” 

The Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi noted that crores of livelihoods have been lost and crop ready farmers are trying desperately in vain, to sell their products.
