Sumona Chakravarti has spoken out in support of Ranveer Singh. She responded to the FIRs against Ranveer in her Instagram Stories on Wednesday.
Two FIRs have been file against actor Ranveer Singh for a recent nude photoshoot for a magazine. According to the complaint, Ranveer has “hurt the sentiments of women. Sumona Chakravarti, a television actor, has now come out supporting Ranveer.
Sumona first shared news about Ranveer on her Instagram Stories. Which start, “‘He hurt women’s sentiments and insult their modesty.” Two cases have been file against Ranveer Singh concerning a nude photoshoot.” “I am a woman,” she wrote on Facebook. Neither my modesty nor my sentiments are offend. Sumona also shared a SS of her mother’s response to Ranveer’s previous Instagram Stories. “Pics were great,” her mother wrote. Who knows what feelings were hurt. Perhaps they wanted to see more. Sumona shared it, writing, “This is what my mother, also a woman, had to say.”
Vedika Chaubey, a Mumbai-based lawyer, filed the written application at the Chembur police station.
Alleging that the actor has harmed the sentiments of women in general and also insulted their modesty through his photographs.
On Monday, a Mumbai-based non-governmental organization (NGO) filed a complaint against the actor with the Chembur police. Based on this, the police filed an FIR against Ranveer under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 292 (sale of obscene books, etc.). Section 293 (sale of suggestive objects to young people), Section 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), also provisions of the Information Technology Act.
An NGO official claimed that the actor had hurt the feelings of women in general and insulted their modesty through his photographs. Ranveer Singh recently photographed for Paper magazine. The Ranveer posed naked on a Turkish rug in the photos. Ranveer Singh sat with his legs crossed in one image. Laid on the carpet in another, and struck a pose with his hands in the air.
