When MS Dhoni was Team India’s captain, it was apparent who the person next in line was. Virat Kohli was in top form and prepped to become the Indian cricket team’s next captain.

Dhoni’s abrupt retirement from Test cricket has forced Kohli to take over Australia’s captaincy mid-tour. He has brought Indian cricket to new levels in all forms of the game, with the team becoming a top side.

With Kohli entering the early 30s, it has now once again become a conversation point on who will take on the mantle of him. Due to his championship run in the IPL, Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma seemed to be the ideal choice, but he is also the same age as Kohli.

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has in mind someone who could become the vice-captain if he shouldered well. Gavaskar named KXIP captain KL Rahul as the person who can groom for a leadership position.
