Swara Bhasker took to social media to respond to trolls celebrating her Covid-19 positive test and wishing her death.

Swara Bhasker, an actor, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, and while she received well-wishes from fans and colleagues. She was also subjected to trolls, some of whom even wished her death. Swara took to Twitter on Friday evening and shared some of these posts, urging the trolls to ‘control their emotions.’

Swara took to social media late Thursday night to inform her fans that she had tested positive for Covid-19. “I’ve been isolated and quarantined.” Fever, a splitting headache, and loss of taste are among the symptoms.

I’ve been vaccinated twice, so I hope this goes away soon. Fingers crossed. “SO grateful for family & to be home,” the actor said on social media.

While many of her Bollywood colleagues and well-wishers sent their best wishes, a section of social media began trolling her. Swara shared a few of these posts, which were shared by trolls who were ecstatic that she had tested positive for Covid. ‘The best news I’ve heard in 2022,’ one user wrote after seeing Swara’s tweet. ‘RIP in advance,’ said another.

Swara responded to all of these posts by calling her detractors “nafrati chintus (haters) and trolls praying for my demise,” or wrote sarcastically in Hindi, “Friends, please keep your emotions in check.”

In a 2020 interview with Firstpost, she addressed the trolling, saying, “I have had to learn to develop a thick skin for it. This is honestly sad because it just shows that you have to desensitize yourself. Which is not always a good thing.” But I do not have much choice because you need to live. But it saddens me that people have forgotten that there is a natural person behind that Twitter or Instagram handle.”
