Swift’s showgirl‑inspired visual, The Fate of Ophelia, earned the night’s top honor, adding another milestone to her already record‑breaking career. In her acceptance speech, the 36‑year‑old praised Parton as the “ultimate showgirl,” highlighting her vivid storytelling and timeless artistry. “Listening to her songs was like watching the best music video you’ve ever seen in your life, every single time,” Swift said, reflecting on Parton’s enduring influence.

Parton, celebrated worldwide for her songwriting and entrepreneurial spirit, passed away in August at the age of 80. Swift’s heartfelt dedication underscored the deep impact the country legend had on her own creative journey and on generations of artists.

Breaking records and expanding her vision

With three new wins, Swift’s VMA tally rose to 33, surpassing Beyoncé’s record of 30. Alongside The Fate of Ophelia, she won Best Direction for Opalite and received the inaugural Artist Director Honors, recognizing her unique contribution as both performer and filmmaker.
