The international team of researchers has found a strong evidence of Covid origin

It’s still a big theory for researchers regarding the origin of the Covid-19 virus. 

According to The New York Times, an international team of experts discovered evidence that the Covid-19 virus might have spread from infected raccoon dogs being illegally available at a seafood market in China’s Wuhan.

According to the report, the conclusion was reached after researchers collected genetic data from swabs taken from Hunan Seafood Wholesale Market and nearby areas in 2020. 

According to the report, swabs were taken from the carts, floors, walls, and cages used to transport the animals.

The analysis discovered that the samples were infected with a virus that carried genetic material from animals such as raccoon dogs. 

Although this does not prove that raccoon dogs were infected or that they transmitted the virus to humans, the study does note that the virus spread from wild animals.

“This is a strong sign that the market animals were infected. There’s no other reason that makes any sense,” Angela Rasmussen, a virologist who was part of the research, told The Atlantic.

According to the report, three researchers—Kristian Andersen, Michael Worobey, and Edward Holmes—were in charge of the study, and the results were put on the open-access genomic database GISAID. 

Scientists from Australia, Europe, and North America downloaded it after that and examined it. China had already studied the materials and declared that “no animal host of SARS-CoV-2 can be deduced”.

Alex Crits-Christoph, a computational biologist, remarked that the genetic data was “tangible”, adding, “this is the species that everyone has been talking about”.
