Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor were awarded the Padma Shri Award on Monday night. Previously, Kangana Ranaut also had the honor.
Karan Johar was awarded the Padma Shri Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday. President Ram Nath Kovind presented the award. In the event video, Karan Johar is seen wearing all black as he takes the stage to receive his award. He met President Ram Nath Kovind with his arms crossed and posed for the prize.
Karan said on Twitter: “Today feels surreal! It is an honor and humility for me to be award the prestigious Padma Shri Award. I am thrilled to receive it from the hands of our esteemed President, Ram Nath Kovind. This is an important day for me, my mother, children, and company, and I will be remember forever. Thank you for all your wishes and the overflow of love!”
TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor was also honor at the event. Ekta wore the traditional white dress for the event while receiving the award.
In a press release, Ekta Kapoor said: “It is an absolute honor to receive the fourth highest civilian award for my modest contribution to the performing arts. This is a real moment and great pride. I want to dedicate this badge of honor to my two pillars of power my mother and father. They believed in me with all their heart, and thanks to them, I am who I am!”
Previously, Kangana Ranaut and Adnan Sami also received the award. Kangana took to Instagram and distributed a video after the ceremony to convey a message to her fans. “People often ask me what do I get if I do all this? Why am I doing all this? That is none of your business. So this award is my answer to that. Padma Shri to roop main jo Mujhe samaan Mila hai ye bahut login to mooh band Karega (this Padma Shri will drown a lot of people)”, she says in an excerpt from his video.
Adnan, on the other hand, spoke with news and expressed his gratitude. “Sometimes, you don’t have the words to express yourself. Thanks to the government. Grateful for people; without them, nothing is possible. I dedicate this to my parents. This is not only an honor but also a responsibility that I will try to fulfill well,” she said.
