Uber Buses in Delhi Soon? Receives First Aggregator Licence

Uber has made a significant milestone by receiving an aggregator license from the Delhi Transport Department to operate buses under the Delhi Premium Bus Scheme. 

This marks Delhi as the 1st state to award such a license, positioning Uber as the pioneering aggregator. Amit Deshpande, Head of Uber Shuttle India, announced the official launch of Uber Shuttle. It follows a successful pilot program that demonstrated a substantial demand for bus services in Delhi.

“Following a successful pilot program, where we witnessed significant demand for buses, we are thrilled to officially introduce the convenience of Uber rides to buses in Delhi,” Deshpande stated.

Uber Buses Features and Convenience for Commuters:

The Uber Shuttle service caters to daily commuting needs, offering a range of convenient features. Customers can pre-book seats on their preferred routes up to a week in advance by selecting the ‘Uber Shuttle.’

Additionally, they can track the bus’s live location and route and view its expected time of arrival (ETA), ensuring a seamless and predictable commuting experience.

The service was previously tested in the Delhi-NCR region and operational in Kolkata under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the West Bengal government. The successful pilot program highlighted the demand and feasibility of such a service, leading to its official launch in Delhi.

Uber Busses Local Fleet Partners and Technological Integration:

Each Uber Shuttle vehicle will have the capacity to accommodate between 19 to 50 passengers. These shuttles will be operated by local fleet partners, leveraging Uber’s advanced technology to enhance the overall commuting experience. 

This integration aims to provide Delhi residents with a reliable and efficient transportation option, improving their daily commute convenience.
