Cops zero in on the charged thanks to CCTV video and arrest them in their city; the two had robbed a motorcycle at Mira Road to pull off the stealing near Vile Parle station.

Over the previous few years, a growth in the number of robbers coming to Mumbai from other states, mainly from Gujarat, has been observed by the cops.

One such issue was seen in Vile Parle, where two robbers from Vapi, Bhaumik Trivedi, 38, and Shahid Kapadia, 34, were seized after stealing a gold chain from the neck of a 68-year-old Vile Parle resident on the night of April 3.

With the help of CCTV video, the police caught the two this week.

According to a police origin, the two targeted the lady outside the gate of her home. The target was going to a dental clinic during the incident.

On a motorcycle, the charge ran away with the chain worth Rs 1.50 lakh. “The incident was said to the Vile Parle police. Under the direction of Dixit Gedam, DCP (Zone 8), Senior Inspector Sanjay Narvekar created a unit and caught the charged at Vapi on May 2,” said an official.

During the probe, it was revealed the two are repeat criminals, and numerous cases have been reported against them in Ahmedabad and Vapi. “They used to arrive in Mumbai to commit offences and had a special modus operandi,” a police official said.
