Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna Proposal Story Sparks Online Debate

A single question about marriage on Koffee With Karan Season 9 has pushed actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna into the centre of memes, trolling and a wider social media debate. The couple appeared on the chat show after the release of their latest film, Ranabali, and one revelation about their wedding quickly went viral. The episode has since divided viewers across platforms.

Rashmika Reveals She Planned the Proposal

When host Karan Johar asked how the proposal unfolded, Rashmika clarified that there was no formal proposal at all. She said she planned everything herself and had asked Vijay to get married several times. According to her, she spent nearly a year working towards the moment before he finally agreed. Vijay responded with humour on the show, laughing off any suggestion that he had been reluctant. The couple married on February 26, 2026, in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur.

Netizens Divided Over the Couple’s Story

Social media users were quick to react. Many fans trolled Vijay, joking that he was insecure or needed to be asked a hundred times before saying yes. Memes spread rapidly, turning a lighthearted anecdote into a trending topic.

Others saw the episode differently. Some viewers called it a publicity stunt timed with the film’s promotions, while supporters defended the pair, arguing the story was harmless and showed a relationship built on equal footing. The conversation soon widened into discussions about celebrity culture and modern ideas of masculinity.

Whether seen as a sweet anecdote or a promotional move, the episode has kept the couple firmly in the headlines. With Ranabali newly released, public interest in their personal and professional lives shows little sign of fading.
