Vodafone Idea Restores Network After Brief Outage Hits Users in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Pune

Vodafone Idea (Vi) users in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Pune experienced a brief but widespread network outage in the early hours of Friday, April 18, due to a technical issue. The telecom operator has since resolved the disruption and confirmed that services are now back to normal.

In an official statement, a Vodafone Idea spokesperson said,

“Our network services were briefly impacted in NCR during the early hours of Friday due to a technical issue. The issue has been resolved and all services are now back to normal.”

The outage began around 12:30 AM, according to Downdetector, a platform that tracks real-time outages. Reports surged and peaked by 1:01 AM, with over 1,940 user complaints recorded. A majority of users reported either a total loss of signal or a complete network blackout.

Major Cities Affected

The outage affected several key cities, including New Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, and Pune.
Downdetector’s user feedback breakdown revealed the extent of the disruption:

  • 71% of users reported “no signal”
  • 21% experienced a “total blackout”
  • 9% had issues with mobile internet connectivity

The technical glitch left users frustrated, especially those relying on mobile networks for late-night work, travel updates, or emergency communication. Many turned to social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), to report the issue and vent their concerns.

One user wrote,

“Are people still using Vi (Vodafone Idea)? It seems like the network is completely down.”

Another commented,

“Vi users in Delhi NCR, what’s going on? No signal for over an hour.”

Apology from Vodafone Idea

Following the backlash and growing concern on social platforms, Vi issued an apology:

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank our users for their patience and understanding.”

Though the company did not provide specific technical details about the root cause, it reassured users that corrective action was taken swiftly and that operations are now fully restored.

This is not the first time Vodafone Idea has faced service disruptions in major urban areas. The telecom company has been under pressure to retain customers amid stiff competition from rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, both of which have more robust network infrastructures.

As of now, no compensation has been announced for affected users, but the company has indicated that customer service teams are on standby to assist anyone still facing connectivity issues.

Users are advised to restart their devices if they continue to experience problems and can reach out to Vi customer care for further support.
