Dream of visiting Canada on hold. Yes, no direct flight is allowed to Canada till September 21 due to COVID-19. News coming from the federal transport ministry stated on Monday.

Ban from April 2021: The ban was first forced on April 22 and has been turned over many times. The rule does not apply to cargo flights or medical transfers which is coming from India.

In its global travel advisory issued in July, the Canadian government excluded India-Canada direct flights until July 21. 

Indirect route to visit Canada: However, Indian travellers who want to visit Canada have to book a flight via an ‘indirect route.’ 

According to the revised travel advisory, Canada will not accept the COVID-19 molecular test report from India. 

Therefore, the travellers have to get tested for the coronavirus in another country before continuing their trip to Canada.

Canadian Advisory: As per the advisory, passengers who have earlier tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and are travelling from India to Canada must now prove a coronavirus test conducted between 14 to 90 days before their departure. “This proof must be obtained in another country before Indian travellers extend their journey to Canada. 

Quarantine for 14days: You might need to attempt entry and stay in another country for at least 14 days,” the advisory read.

However, Canada is not only the country to put travel limitations for passengers travelling from India. 

Many countries have restricted entry or transit for passengers arriving from India, especially those who have previously tested positive for COVID-19. If the passenger tests positive during transit, they might be quarantined or sent back to their point of departure.

Indians can visit the UK: Interestingly, UK has just removed India from the red list and put it in the yellow list of countries, which means travel from India to the UK is now allowed but with care.
