On Linkedin, a video of a meeting at HDFC Bank has gone viral. Soumi Chakraborty, a social media user, published a post of a meeting between employees and the company’s management. This was a virtual meeting.
The video, which is in Bengali, depicts boss Pushpal Roy asking his employee, Rahul Verma, to register 12 smart accounts. “I am saying in a simple Bangla language,” he says sternly.
Following that, he addresses another employee, Bishwanath Dey. Roy informs him that he will be staying at UNB for 20 days. He also tells them that he has given them sufficient time and made them comprehend. He then asks Dey how many savings and current accounts he’s opened in the last two days.
HDFC bank manager takes on every employee:
Dey notifies Roy that ten savings accounts and two current accounts were opened on the 8th, and five savings accounts and one current account were opened on the 9th. He does not mention the month but most likely refers to May 8 and May 9.
“You said you sent 15 savings accounts for opening, but only 5 have opened so far,” Roy retorts. He uses an aggressive word before saying, Shut Up. Pushpal then directs Dey to open 25 smart covers, 25 sure covers, and 25 health covers.
He then orders another employee, Sagnik, to write down everything he says.
The man continues to yell at Dey, asking him to create these accounts once more and, if he can’t, to phone him every hour. Roye further warns that if this does not happen, he will have to personally come and force them to do it.
He then takes it out on another employee named John. Pushpal resumes his talk with “Shut Up,” telling John, “For you, my CPI Score is 77; today, I will issue an HR memo to you and Tithir.”
He continues, “With Indradeb’s blessing, the account has been opened in your branch, but what have you done?” “How many days will this go on like this?”
The now-viral post has elicited significant reactions from users who are critical of the manager. People are also focusing on the harmful business culture. Most people lamented the fact that this level of toxicity had become the norm in most businesses.
