The Enforcement Directorate (ED) announced on Friday that it had recovered approximately Rs 20 crore from Arpita Mukherjee. A good aide to former West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee with the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam.
“During the searches, the ED recovered approximately Rs 20 crore in cash from the residential premises of Arpita Mukherjee, a close associate of Shri Partha Chatterjee. The sum above is suspect to be the proceeds of crime from the SSC scam. The search team is enlisting the help of bank officials to count cash using cash counting machines. “A full of more than 20 mobile phones have been recovered from Ms. Arpita Mukherjee’s premises, the purpose and use of which are being determine,” the ED said in a statement.
On Saturday, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Partha Chatterjee in Kolkata for his alleged involvement in the teacher recruitment scam. Chatterjee, the state education minister at the time of the fraud, was arrest after about 26 hours of questioning in connection with the investigation. He was transport to the ED’s office at the CGO Complex in the Salt Lake area.
The agency also stated that several incriminating documents, records, company details. Electronic devices, foreign currency, also gold had been recover from the “premises of the persons link to the scam.”
Who is Arpita Mukherjee?
Arpita Mukherjee, a model and actor who has appeared in a few Bengali, Odia. Also Tamil films, has been describe by the ED as a “close associate” of Partha Chatterjee.
Mukherjee has also appeared in Bengali films with well-known actors. Such as Prosenjit Chatterjee in Mama Bhagne and Jeet in Partner.
