On Saturday, Netflix announced the slate of upcoming Indian content at its Tudum event.
This includes Hansal Mehta’s Scoop, which stars Karishma Tanna Bangera as crime reporter Jigna Vora, accused of murdering journalist J Dey and acquitted seven years later.
Hansal Mehta directs the fictional series Scoop. It is base on Jigna Vora’s biography Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison, which chronicles her experiences after being accuse of the murder of another journalist.
The teaser for the series, which premiered today, begins with gangster Chota Rajan accusing the young reporter of encouraging him to murder. The teaser then focuses on the reporter’s struggle as she deals with media trials and police investigations. “Problem yeh hai, ki either you break a story, or the story breaks you,” Tanna is heard saying.

Who is Jigna Vora?
Vora worked as a journalist for Asian Age. She was one of the two main suspects in the murder of Jyotirmoy Dey, a Mid-Day reporter. J Dey was murder by unidentified assailants in Hiranandani, Powai, on June 11, 2011, while onlookers looked on. The assailants were eventually identify as part of a seven-person gang linked to underworld gangster Chhota Rajan. The Mumbai police charged Rajan and Vora after conducting an initial investigation. In 2016, the case was turn over to the CBI.
On November 25, 2011, Mumbai police arrested Vora concerning the investigation. She was 37 years old and the deputy bureau chief of the Asian Age newspaper’s Mumbai bureau at the time. She was accuse of providing Rajan with vital information about Dey, such as his motorcycle’s address and licence plate number.
