Raj Babbar gets 2 years jail; read reason

In a case involving the assault of a polling official, a court here sentenced Bollywood actor and Congress leader Raj Babbar to two years in prison. Babbar was in the courtroom when the decision was made and was later granted temporary bail.

On Thursday, the MP/MLA court sentenced Babbar. Who was then running for office in Lucknow as a component of the Samajwadi Party in the parliamentary elections, to two years in prison for assaulting government employees and interfering with their performance of their official duties in 1996. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a pillar of the BJP, ultimately defeated Babbar in the election. And on May 16, 1996, he began his first 16-day term as prime minister.

In addition, the court fined him Rs. 6,500. Arvind Singh Yadav, a co-defendant, passed away during the trial.

Srikrishna Singh Rana, the polling officer, had filed an FIR against Babbar, Yadav, and others. Babbar and his supporters are accuss of breaking into a voting place, making up evidence of rigging. And assaulting Shiv Kumar Singh and the informants.

In the Lucknow general elections of 1996, Babbar ran against Atal Bihari Vajpayee of the BJP for the Lok Sabha seat as a Samajwadi Party candidate. Vajpayee did, however, go on to win the Lok Sabha elections with a considerable margin.
