Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, celebrated Friendship Day with a special delivery on Sunday. Goyal said on X (previously known as Twitter) that he would give meals and friendship bracelets to delivery executives, consumers, and restaurant partners.
According to the founder of the food-tech giant, Going to deliver some food and friendship bands to our delivery partners, restaurant partners and customers. Best Sunday ever!!
He also shared photos of himself riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle while holding a bunch of friendship bracelets with the words ‘best food friends forever’ carved on them.
Users on Zomato Friendship Day marketing:
Users were amused and excited by the CEO’s action. One user said, “Zomato orders over Swiggy today, where people are hoping to meet the CEO.”
Another wanted to meet Goyal as a delivery partner and inquired whether he would deliver in Chandigarh. Someone commended Zomato for being a ‘food friend’ in the absence of his domestic help.
CEO as the delivery Guy:
This is not Goyal’s first time playing the role of a Zomato delivery worker. On New Year’s Eve, Goyal delivered a few orders received through the app and tweeted that his first drop was at the Zomato office. Overall, he claimed to have delivered up to four orders. Interestingly, his X bio reads, “Delivery boy at Zomato.”
Zomato reported a profit last week for the first time since its founding in 2008. The firm reported a net profit of 2 crore in the 1st quarter of the current fiscal year on August 3.
The CEO responded to a user’s remark on X that Goyal should have borrowed the two crores from him instead of going from house to home delivering orders, saying, “Tweet of the day.”
Recently, the food delivery platform trialled a cost of 2 for every order, regardless of the cart value. According to the app, the cost is a “small fee that helps us pay the bills so that we can keep Zomato running.”
