Sidhu Moosewala death: 2 suspects arrested in Kenya and Azerbaijan

According to the MEA, two suspects in the death of Sidhu Moosewala have been apprehended in Kenya and Azerbaijan.

Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was detaine in Kenya, and Sachin Thapan was detaine in Azerbaijan. They are both name in the SIT charge sheet and left the country a month before Moosewala was murder.

The external affairs ministry tell on Thursday that Kenya and Azerbaijan have detained one person each on doubt of involvement in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala and that India is in contact with authorities in both countries about the matter.

On May 29, Moosewala was traveling in his vehicle with two associates. When six shooters gunned him down on a highway near Jawaharke village in Punjab’s Mansa district.

“One suspect has been detain in Azerbaijan and one in Kenya by local authorities. And we are in connection with the concerned authorities in both countries on the next steps,” said Arindam Bagchi. Spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, at a regular media briefing on Thursday.

“I cannot comment on the legal proceedings. But our authorities are in contact with both countries regarding the two suspects,” he said in response to a question.

Moosewala was kill just days after Punjab Police reduce his security cover.

Last year, he ran unsuccessfully as a Congress candidate in the state assembly elections.

According to news, the external affairs ministry has been collaborating with Punjab Police on the extradition of the two suspects detained abroad. Bagchi did not identify the arrested men. Who have been identify as Sachin Thapan, who was detaine in Azerbaijan, and Anmol Bishnoi, who was arrest in Kenya, by the Punjab Police. Both fled India on forged passports a month before the murder on May 29.

The two are also name as co-accuss in the special investigation team’s 1,850-page charge sheet. Which was file on August 26 in the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Mansa.
