Air India Express Operations Resume after Cabin Crew Strike

Following resolving the cabin crew strike, operations at Air India Express are gradually returning to stability. The reinstatement of more cabin crew members, who are rejoining their duties, signals a positive turn after significant disruptions caused by the strike.

Air India Express Cabin Crew Strike Resolution:

The strike, initiated by a segment of cabin crew members on Tuesday night, led to the cancellation of over 170 flights. However, with the strike officially called off on Thursday evening and the withdrawal of termination letters issued to 25 striking cabin crew, the airline is swiftly working towards restoring its flight schedules.

Air India Express, known for its daily operation of around 380 flights, anticipates a return to normalcy within two days. With cabin crew members rejoining and receiving necessary fitness certifications to resume duties, the airline aims to mitigate the impact of the recent disruptions.

Air India Express Operational Updates:

The airline, which operates a mix of international and domestic flights, particularly highlights improvements in international flight operations expected from Friday onwards. This development follows the increased availability of cabin crew members to facilitate smoother operations.

In response to cabin crew shortages, the airline had to cancel 85 flights, constituting approximately 23% of its daily capacity. However, with efforts to swiftly restore the flight schedule, Air India aims to minimize inconvenience to affected passengers and expresses regret for the disruptions.

Cabin Crew Employee Concerns:

Concerns over alleged mismanagement and perceived inequalities in staff treatment drove the strike. Many cabin crew members cited these issues for their participation in the strike, reflecting broader employee sentiments within the organization.

During ongoing mergers and expansions, Air India Express maintains a workforce of around 6,000 employees, including over 2,000 cabin crew members. Integrating AIX Connect, formerly AirAsia India, adds to the complexity of organizational transitions amidst operational challenges.
