Apple Shift to India Could Create Over 600,000 Jobs

According to the Economic Times, Apple strategic shift from China towards India could generate over 600,000 jobs.

This move is part of Apple’s broader efforts to expand its local ecosystem in India, where the tech giant is rapidly scaling its operations.

Apple Significant Job Creation in India:

The report suggests that Apple may add around 200,000 direct jobs by the end of the current financial year. Notably, women are expected to fill over 70% of these positions.

The creation of direct jobs is likely to have a cascading effect, each leading to at least three indirect jobs. This could result in the overall creation of 500,000 to 600,000 jobs in India.

Focus on iPhone 16 Production in Tamil Nadu:

As Apple deepened its presence in India, Bloomberg News reported that it started training thousands of workers at its Tamil Nadu factory to produce the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. Apple aims to produce these models as close to a global debut as possible.

In a significant development, Apple plans to assemble its top-of-the-line Pro and Pro Max models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series in India for the first time. Apple’s manufacturing partner, Foxconn Technology Group, will manage this assembly.

Foxconn’s Role in Apple Indian Expansion:

Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur facility in Tamil Nadu is set to play a crucial role in Apple’s plans. The facility will soon commence the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for the Pro models of iPhone 16, following which it will enter the mass production stage. This move is a key part of Apple’s strategy to decrease its reliance on Chinese manufacturing.

Anticipation for iPhone 16 Series Launch:

Apple has officially declared the launch of the iPhone 16 series with the tagline “It’s Glowtime.” The highly anticipated Apple event is scheduled for September 9, where the company is expected to unveil four models of the iPhone 16.
