After a continued standoff between Indian and
Chinese armies at the Line of Control, China says the situation is
“overall stable and controllable”.
On Wednesday, China said that
the situation at the Indian border is “overall stable and
controllable”. The foreign ministry spokesman of China said that issues
must be resolved through dialogue and consultation and that both India
and China have proper mechanisms and communication channels to do so. These
comments come after a continued standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies
at the Line Of Control.
During a media briefing, foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that the position of China on issues related to the border is clear and consistent. Referring to the directions of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after their two informal summits, Zhao claimed that they have been following the important consensus reached by the two leaders and rigorously observing the agreements between the two nations. Zhao urged the armies of both the nations to take confidence building measures to maintain peace and tranquility along the borders.
A day after Chinese President
Xi ordered the military to mount up the battle readiness, visualizing the worst
case scenario Zhao said that they were commuted to safeguard their territorial
sovereignty and security with also securing peace and stability in the border
region. Now, the situation at the Indian border is overall stable and
controllable. Confirming that the diplomatic efforts were on to ease the
tensions at the border, Zhao said, “Between the two countries, we have
good border related mechanism and communication channels. We are capable to
resolve the issues completely through dialogue and consultation.”
The Indian ministry of external
affairs spokesman Anurag Srivastava in an online press briefing had earlier
said, “Indian troops are familiar with the alignment of Line of Actual Control
at the Indo-China border regions and abide by it scrupulously”.
