The Congress party is set to begin its ‘Gujarat Nyaya Yatra’ from Morbi on Friday, August 9. This march will pass through several significant cities and towns, including Tankara, Rajkot, Chotila, Surendranagar, Viramgam, Sanand, and Ahmedabad, before concluding in Gandhinagar on August 23.
A pivotal moment of the Yatra is scheduled for August 11 in Rajkot. Where a condolence meeting will be held at the TRP Game Zone, the site of a tragic fire in May that resulted in the loss of 27 lives.
Gujarat Nyaya Yatra Schedule and Purpose:
On August 12, the Yatra will cover key areas of Rajkot and then proceed to Surendranagar on August 13. In total, seven such Yatras will be conducted across Gujarat.
The Congress party stated that the Yatra calls for accountability and justice for the victims of various incidents. It aims to raise awareness against corruption, bootlegging, and the increasing presence of ‘fake’ officers in the state.
Focus on Justice and Accountability:
The Yatra also seeks to secure justice for the victims of recent tragedies in Gujarat. It includes the Morbi bridge collapse, the Takshashila fire incident, and the Vadodara Harani boat tragedy.
Congress Seva Dal chief Lalji Desai, Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil, and Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani will lead the march. Senior Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and party President Mallikarjun Kharge are expected to join.
Gujarat Congress chief Shaktisinh Gohil emphasized the march’s significance: “This march highlights the series of devastating incidents that have impacted the state and the nation over the past two years. The Congress hopes to bring justice to the affected families and address the issues facing Gujarat under the current administration.”
Participation and Ceremonies of Gujarat Nyaya Yatra:
The Yatra will feature three categories of participants: those walking the entire 15-day journey, district-level participants joining for five to seven hours, and others joining or leaving as convenient. Approximately 100 participants are expected to walk continuously throughout the Yatra.
The march will commence from Jhulta Bridge in Morbi on August 9, coinciding with Kranti Din, and will include a Maha Dhvajvandan ceremony in Surendranagar on August 15. The final segment will take participants from Viramgam Sanand to Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad.
