Google Photos: Enhanced AI Editing Features Available for Users

Google Photos announces a significant upgrade, extending its advanced editing features previously exclusive to Pixel devices and paid subscribers to all users for free.

With the introduction of AI-powered tools like Magic Editor, Google aims to democratize high-quality photo editing, responding to the growing demand for sophisticated editing capabilities.

Google Photos AI Editing Feature Availability:

The enhanced editing features will be available starting May 15th. However, as the rollout process unfolds gradually over several weeks, it may take some time for all Google Photos users to gain access to these tools.

While the upgrade brings powerful editing tools to a broader audience, specific hardware requirements must be met to utilize these features.

For ChromeOS users, the device must be a Chromebook Plus with ChromeOS version 118+ or have at least 3GB RAM. Compatibility extends to Android 8.0 or higher and iOS 15 or higher on mobile devices.

Google Photo Magic Editor Overview:

The Magic Editor is a highlight of the upgrade, initially introduced with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. This tool harnesses generative AI to execute complex edits, such as filling photo gaps, subject repositioning, and foreground/background adjustments.

Users can leverage Magic Editor to alter sky color, remove unwanted elements from photos, and achieve various other editing enhancements.

Other Included Tools:

In addition to Magic Editor, users gain access to a suite of AI-powered editing tools previously reserved for Pixel users.

These tools include Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Sky Suggestions, Color Pop, HDR Effect for photos and videos, Portrait Blur, Portrait Light, Cinematic Photos, Styles in the Collage Editor, and Video Effects.
