Pixel 7a, Google’s rumoured affordable “A”-tagged mid-range addition to the Pixel 7 series set to launch in 2023, is a significant upgrade over previous A-series Pixel smartphones. According to reports, the Pixel 7a will have improved cameras and wireless charging, among other things. The Pixel 3a, Google’s first A-series Pixel, was launch to make the flagship Pixel experience available on a more affordable device. Which the search giant accomplished by using less expensive materials.

This strategy was reflect in Google’s release of the Pixel 4a 5G alongside the Pixel 5. With both phones featuring the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. Pixel 4a 5G also had a 90Hz refresh rate supporting display, water resistance, a premium metal body, and wireless charging. Which helped the smartphone stand out in a category where such features were uncommon. The Pixel 5a also managed to maintain a low retail price while boasting a water-resistant body and metal exterior.

Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a phones, in particular, shared the same primary camera sensor as their flagship counterparts.

Google’s work on the Pixel 7a was first confirmed by a public discussion on Android’s open-source code. Which indicated that the device codenam “Lynx” will be the Pixel 7a, which will be release in 2023.

Earlier this year, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station revealed details about a Pixel device made in China by Foxconn. That would use the same Tensor G2 chip as the Pixel 7 series and have a ceramic body. According to 9to5Google, this device is now being rumoure to be the Pixel 7a. If this is true, the Pixel 7a will be the first Google phone with a ceramic body in the Pixel lineup.
