IPL 2022 GT vs. LSG Cricket Match Ball to Ball Commentary, Cricket Highlights: Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants

Pacer Mohammed Shami bowled a fiery slot spell before Rahul Tewatia shattered an unbeaten 40 to help Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in their first IPL match here on Monday.

Shami (3/25) bowled a ferocious opening spell to knock the wind out of the Super Giants’ top order before Deepak Hooda (55 off 41 balls) and Ayush Badoni (54 off 41 balls) smashed the fifties to help Gujarat Titans post 158 for six.

The Titans were then led over the line by skipper Hardik Pandya (33), all-rounder Tewatia (40 not out), Matthew Wade (30), and David Miller (30).

Aside from Shami’s three wickets, Varun Aaron (2/45) and Rashid Khan (1/27) took two wickets for the Titans. Super Giants’ bowler of choice was Dushmantha Chameera (2/22).

Scores in Brief:

Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 158 in 20 overs (Deepak Hooda 55, Ayush Badoni 54; Mohammed Shami 3/25).

Gujarat Titans score 161/5 in 19.4 overs (Rahul Tewatia 40 not out, Hardik Pandya 33; Dushmantha Chameera 2/22).

Rahul, LucKLess
KL Rahul’s fortunes have not improved due to a change in the team. Few teams have lost as many close finishes as Punjab Kings during his reign—two defeats in the super-over last season alone. He began his Lucknow Super Giants reign on a similarly sour note, losing a match that his team appeared to have won before the Rahul Tewatia-David Miller duet. Rahul couldn’t hide his disappointment.

He looked crestfallen and downcast as he plodded back to the dug-out. When a defeat seemed inevitable during the last few overs, he cut an agitated figure, yelling at the erring bowlers, gesturing frantically at the sloppy fielders, and often cursing his wretched luck.
