Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) initiates “Unlock 1.0”:

Plans to unlock all the economic activities in a phased manner were laid by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday as Lockdown 5.0 will also begin from 1st June onwards. The central government has targeted resuming of restaurants and malls from June 8 and has also revised night curfew timings from the earlier 7 pm to 7 am to the new 9 pm to 5 am. Lockdown 5.0 will be applicable majorly to the containment zones. Unlock 1.0 will vary from state to state as the central government gave freedom to states to prohibit certain activities but have instructed them to not water down the centre’s guidelines.

Maharashtra with the most containment zones will see minimal relaxations. Delhi will allow salons and barber shops to reopen; Tamil Nadu extended the lockdown 5.0 till June 30, but will partially open its public transport. Gujarat however, has opened major sectors to resume their work and will also open malls, restaurants and religious places across the state.

Global COVID-19 cases breached the 6 million mark with 366,875 fatalities.
