As per the Health Minister report at 8 pm:
The number of active cases goes down further to 1,68,784, seen at 8 am from the health ministry report.
After 127 additional deaths were registered, the number of deaths due to the disease increased to 1,54,274, the health ministry data revealed.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned at last week’s Davos Dialogue at the World Economic Forum, India has made significant progress in managing the disease’s spreading and associated deaths. He said there were predictions that India would see 700-800 million people being infected, but today’s scenario proved those predictions false.
He also praised the development of indigenous vaccines for fighting Covid-19 and said that more of these vaccines would soon become a reality.
India initiated a nationwide vaccination campaign on January 16 well as, as per the Ministry of Health, 35 lakh recipients have so far been vaccinated.

Including its 35,00,027 beneficiaries, Uttar Pradesh had the largest number of 4,63,793 vaccinated, accompanied by 3,24,973 throughout the Rajasthan, 3,07,891 throughout Karnataka as well as 2,61,320 in Maharashtra, it said.
Two vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, were authorized by the ministry through the Emergency Use Authorization (EAU).
Covid-19 cases in India during the previous year:
On August 7 August 7 previous year, India’s Covid-19 tally surpassed the 20-lakh milestone, on August 23, the 30-lakh stamp, and then on September 5, the 40-lakh mark.
It was 50 lakhs on September 16, 60 lakhs on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 one-crore mark December 19.
Then, 70 per cent of the Covid-19 fatalities in the nation occurred, leading to comorbidities, as per the health ministry.
