India reports the highest single-day spike in deaths and Covid-19 cases as lockdown 4.0 nears its end.

Many states to ease the restrictions in Lockdown 5.0 as India’s Coronavirus tally reaches 173,763.

India on Saturday reported the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases as well as deaths with 7,964 new infections and 265 causalities as per the Union Health Ministry. The total number of Coronavirus cases in India reached 173,763 and death toll at 4971.

India’s recovery rate grows to 47%:

India also recorded the highest number of recovered cases as a total of 11,729 patients recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours. This takes the tally of recovered patients to 82,370, which raised the recovery rate of India to approximately 47%, as per the Union Health Ministry. India has also increased its testing by recording 1,21,702 samples tested– the highest till date in the 24 hours period.

Fifth Phase of Lockdown will witness further ease of restrictions:

As lockdown 4.0 nears its end, many states have decided to ease the restrictions and provide some more relaxations. The central government may also reduce the number of hours of the night curfew after consulting with the health experts in Lockdown 5.0. However, 13 key cities with a high concentration of coronavirus cases will see restrictions continued. The coronavirus curve is still ahead of its projection as health experts had predicted India to register a total of 165000 cases by 31st May which almost 9000 cases short of the actual total on 30th May.

India’s doubling rate is also a matter of concern as cases in the nation doubled in just 14.63 days which is by far the highest doubling rate in the world.

Globally, 5.92 million COVID-19 cases have been registered and more than 3,64,000 deaths have been recorded.
