India’s first Apple store to open in BKC, Mumbai

Apple store, housed in a lavish shopping mall owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is located with international banks in the city’s central business district.

Apple Inc. is set to launch its first official retail shop in India, a milestone move for the iPhone maker, placing big bets on the South Asian country for everything from manufacturing to deals.

On Wednesday, the firm shared a picture of the barricade of its retail shop in India’s financial capital of Mumbai. Yet, it prevented short of giving a date for its opening. 

The store, located in a lavish shopping mall owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is alongside international banks in the city’s central business area.

The launch emphasises Apple’s push to grow in the South Asian nation, which will surpass China as the world’s most populated country this year. India’s growing middle class is an appealing target group for the firm’s expensive smartphones and computers, and Apple is also extending its manufacturing operation in the nation.

Apple is also launching a store in the capital, New Delhi.

This year, the US tech firm reshuffled the management of its global businesses to concentrate more on India, where online sales helped it register record earnings from the quarter to December.
