Instagram Updates More popular than Meta’s Facebook, Instagram has increased its efforts to combat hate speech and online abuse.

Instagram Updates, owned by Meta Platforms, announced on Thursday that it would improve features that allow users to block the accounts of abusers and trolls on the social media platform.

All Instagram users will now be able to block a person’s existing accounts. Expanding on a feature introduced last year that only allowed the blocking of new versions.

“Based on preliminary test results from this new change, we anticipate that our community will need to block 4 million fewer accounts each week. As these accounts will now be block automatically,” Instagram wrote in a blog post.

The photo-sharing app, which is more popular among teens and young adults than Meta’s Facebook. It has increased its efforts to combat hate speech and online abuse on its platform.

Instagram has also improved a feature that prevents users from viewing potentially abusive messages by filtering offensive words from Stories replies. On Thursday, it is expanding “nudges” designed to protect creators from harassment.

The social media company’s blog post updated the features to allow users to block Instagram. A user can use this feature to block multiple accounts created by the same person. This also disables any existing accounts that a person may have.

The company also updated Hidden Words, launched last year, by allowing users to cover offensive Stories replies. Furthermore, inappropriate responses from people you do not follow are automatically route to the Hidden Requests folder.

Furthermore, Hidden Words now supports several new languages, including Farsi, Russian, Turkish, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil.
