“It wasn’t an arrest”; Vivek Agnihotri on Amritpal Singh Arrest

The gurdwara where Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh was spotted addressing before his arrest on Sunday, according to film director Vivek Agnihotri, should be held accountable for providing sanctuary and a platform to an alleged terrorist.

“There was no arrest. After preaching in a Gurudwara, Amritpal Singh surrendered like a VIP. If the law and a fair justice system prevail, the Gurudwara management must be held accountable for providing shelter/platform to a suspected terrorist,” Vivek Agnihotri tweeted.

Amritpal Singh, a radical Sikh leader, was apprehended on Sunday morning in Moga, Punjab, putting an end to a month-long manhunt for the Waris Punjab De commander.

According to Police, he was apprehended at a Gurdwara in Rode village based on intelligence. Punjab police encircled the village on all sides. The cops did not enter the temple because he was inside, according to Police.

“He knew he had no choice because he was surrounded.” He was apprehended at about 6.45 a.m., according to Punjab IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill.

After he was taken to jail, the conflicting accounts about whether Amritpal Singh was arrested or surrendered began. While Police said he was captured after officers encircled the entire hamlet, Sikh leader Jasbir Singh Rode stated Amritpal arrived at Rode village yesterday night.

Police were informed that Amritpal would surrender. He further said that if the Police had known Amritpal was present, they would not have allowed him to address the congregation in the gurdwara.

On the other hand, the Police stated that they did not want to disturb the area’s calm.
