Man assaulted a lady in Mumbai local, got arrested

As stated by Mumbai Police, A man was arrested on Wednesday evening for sexually assaulting a lady in Mumbai Local. 

On Wednesday evening, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Government Railway Police detained a labourer for allegedly sexually abusing a woman in a Mumbai local.

The arrest was made eight hours after the assault occurred at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Masjid Bunder stations.

According to GRP authorities, the woman, who is 20 years old and lives in Girgaon, was on her way to Belapur to appear for an examination.

She boarded the unoccupied ladies’ cabin of the train. As the train began to move, a man boarded and, seeing the woman alone, approached and sexually attacked her, according to authorities.

When the woman shouted an alert as the Masjid Bunder station arrived, the man jumped off the train and escaped.

The woman went to the CSMT station and completed a first information report (FIR).

“We scanned the entry points of CCTV of CSMT and Masjid bunder and found the man while exiting the Major Bunder station,” stated a CSMT GRP officer.

At 4 p.m., the police apprehended the 40-year-old suspect in the vicinity of Masjid Bunder.
