Schools in Uttar Pradesh, with the exception of those in containment areas, will reopen from Monday for the students in Class 9 to Class 12, for the very first time since the outbreak of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) required classes to shut down in March. A standard operating procedure (SOP) on hygiene, sanitation, and appropriate protocols for the reopening of schools has been provided by the state.
The government has already said the sanitization of premises is compulsory on a regular basis before any move. “Classes 9 to 12 through the start in these schools in the first step. In order to ensure student safety, schools must work in two shifts of smaller periods, on October 10 Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said.
Here are the laws and rules that schools, students, and teachers will have to follow:
1. Classes will be conducted in shifts, and schools will have to obey all appropriate procedures, including social distancing and adequate sanitization of premises.
2. In the first shift, students from Class 9 and Class 10 may come to school, and those from Class 11 and Class 12 may attend school in the second shift. In a day, a maximum of 50 per cent of students should be named and the remaining 50 per cent the day after.
3. After providing written consent from their parents or guardians, students would only be permitted to attend classes.
4. Students will be forced to sit 6 feet away from each other.
5. Authorities will have access to sanitizers, hand washing, thermal scanning, and provisions for primary care in all classrooms.
6. If there are signs of cold or fever in a pupil, teacher or other workers, they will be sent home after primary care.
7. Teachers, students, and staff will have to wear masks on a compulsory basis, and others will have to be kept in reserve by the school administration.
8. The UP government has also issued directives to continue and promote online teaching. It is also important to offer priority to calling students to school who do not have access to online teaching.
9. Every day, school buses would have to be sanitized, and sufficient distance in seating arrangements should be kept.
10. No student, the government has said, should be compelled to come to school.
