Many will not agree with the point of Rishabh Pant opening in ODIs as Dhawan, Rahul, and all are there in the team. But we feel Pant as a finisher will never justify his place in the team. He is not proper slogger like yuvraj and Dhoni he is more like Sehwag and Gilchrist. So Rishabh Pant as an opener for India in 2nd ODI vs WI is a masterstroke by Rohit and Dravid. He can be next to Gilchrist if given the freedom to play his natural game in the first 15 overs in ODIs and the first four overs in T20s.
India, after 29 overs, is 130 for 3. Rahul and Suryakumar are on the crease. Rishabh’s as opener first inning didn’t go well for him. He was out after scoring a slow 18runs of 34balls in which he didn’t score a single in 25balls. Maybe the anxiety issue is troubled, Pant. Never mind, we feel it was his first inning as an opener, and it happens to everyone. But Pant has the potential, and he will show his talent if he gets 5 to 6 innings on a stable base as an opener.
India must give a few more chances to Rishabh Pant as an opener. If he finds his form, he can be a handy option in T20s and ODIs as an opener. Every cricket lover wants to see Rishabh Pant play longer innings give India a super start like Sehwag used to do.
