Dr. Nitin Raut, Minister of Energy of Maharashtra, asked the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (Mahatransco) to initiate a mega recruitment drive for around 8,500 vacant posts over several years during a meeting conducted at the committee on Friday.

As per the official release of the government of Maharashtra, the conference was arranged to address the Mahatransco’s role of manpower in which Dinesh Waghmare, chairman and managing director, briefed on the vacancy position.

Waghmare told the Minister, according to the Maharashtra government, that many positions of technicians and engineers remained vacant after the unbundling of the former Maharashtra State Electricity Board into four companies, including Mahatransco, and the current vacancies created a workforce burden creating industrial tension and actively demanded recruitment by trade unions.
A gift from MVA:
“During the meeting, Raut had said that the state’s youth were languishing because of unemployment, and new work opportunities would give hope in their lives, and on the occasion of Dhammachakra Pravartan Day, it would be a gift from the MVA (Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi) government,” the release said.
In particular, there are about 6,750 vacant technical system posts (ITI diploma holders) and about 1,762 vacant engineering posts (Diploma and Degree) for which the recruitment process will be conducted by Mahatransco.
The release added that a Bakshi Committee report on manpower was addressed during the meeting.
A category of technician and operator will be combined into one category since they both have common ITI qualifications.
For them, it will open up a promotion platform. During the meeting, Raut recommended that the current workforce be provided with training for the development of multitasking skills, he said.

In addition, the government said that the Mahatransco employee’s promotion prospects have been blocked over the past few years due to a large number of vacancies at different levels, and once the recruitment process is completed, promotion channels will become available for employees to generate excitement among them.
