Modi indirectly says to Sharif Pakistan is safe heaven for Terrorists

During the SCO summit, PM Narendra Modi digs at Pakistan as he indirectly says Pakistan is a safe heaven for terrorists. 

PM Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that some countries employ cross-border terrorism and provide safe harbour for terrorists, and he encouraged SCO members to denounce it.

“Terrorism threatens regional and global peace.” We will have to combat terrorism…Some countries use cross-border terrorism as a policy tool and provide shelter for terrorists. 

The SCO should not be afraid to censure such countries. The SCO should condemn it. “There should be no double standards in the fight against terrorism,” Modi said during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conference, which India hosted, without mentioning any countries.

Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, was also present at the virtual SCO Summit.

“We see the SCO as an extended family rather than an extended neighbourhood.” “Our vision for the SCO is built on security, economic development, connectivity, unity, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and environmental protection,” Modi added.

Leaders of the (SCO) met online to talk about expanding the Eurasian group’s power by embracing Iran and opening the door to the membership of Belarus.

China’s President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the virtual meeting, which will be Putin’s first appearance at an international event since the Wagner mercenary group’s brief mutiny in late June.

The eight-member SCO was formed in 2001 by China and Russia, with former Soviet central Asian states as members, and later joined by India and Pakistan. It is a political and security club that strives to oppose Western influence in Eurasia.
