Morbi bridge collapse: People were died; see videos and photos
Four days ago, a private contractor opened the bridge without a ‘fitness certificate’.
The municipality awarded the contract to Morbi-based Oreva Group (Ajanta Manufacturing Pvt Ltd). Which also manufactures e-bikes, in March of this year to maintain and manage the bridge.
Following a cable bridge collapse in Gujarat’s Morbi district on Sunday, at least 60 people were kill. With the death toll expected to rise. When the incident occurred, over 100 people fell into the Machhu river.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ordered the immediate deployment of rescue teams to the scene of the incident in Morbi and has announced ex-gratia for the victims. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has also arrived in Gandhinagar to assess the situation with officials.
According to the most recent reports, 60 people have died. And several others are believe to be injure as rescue efforts continue at the scene.
Ambulances have arrived on the scene to transport the wounded to hospitals.
A video of some people clinging to the bridge and others swimming towards it to save their lives has surfaced on the internet. Half of the cable bridge was visibly submerge in water.
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that PM Modi has request that the situation be closely monitor and that all possible assistance be provide to those affected.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupender Patel start that officials had been given instructions to arrange immediate treatment for the injured.
