Nitish Bharadwaj Praises Ramayana, Urges Ranbir to Avoid Animal-Like Roles

Veteran actor Nitish Bharadwaj, celebrated for his portrayal of Lord Krishna in BR Chopra’s 1988 series Mahabharat, has heaped praise on the newly released trailer of Ramayana. Taking to Instagram, he called the film a strong contender for the Oscars and hailed director Nitesh Tiwari as Indian cinema’s next major gift to the world, drawing comparisons to legends Satyajit Ray and Shekhar Kapoor.

Bharadwaj Lauds Music, VFX and Cast

The actor singled out composer Hans Zimmer for his collaboration with Indian cinema, and praised the film’s production design, cinematography, and its use of VFX and AI to recreate a convincing period setting. He also complimented the cast, placing Ranbir Kapoor alongside Ranveer Singh as two of the industry’s “unbeatable Dhurandhars,” and welcomed Yash to global cinema following his casting in the project.

A Request Tied to Social Responsibility

Beyond the praise, Bharadwaj had a pointed message for Ranbir Kapoor. He urged the actor to recognise the social responsibility that comes with portraying Lord Ram and to steer clear of roles similar to his controversial 2023 film Animal going forward. Bharadwaj emphasised that essaying such a revered character calls for upholding Bharat’s cultural heritage and values both on and off screen.

Ramayana is set to release in two parts — the first in October 2026 and the second during Diwali 2027. The film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, and Yash, and has already generated significant buzz following the trailer launch.
