Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet’s Reunion, Years After Suriya’s NGK

Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet’s Reunion, Years After Suriya’s NGK

The newly released trailer for Ramayana has stirred excitement among fans, who are eager to watch Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh bring their respective characters to life on screen. What many may not realise, however, is that this isn’t the first time the two actresses have appeared in the same film. They previously worked together in the 2019 Tamil political drama NGK, which starred Suriya in the lead role.

Their First Pairing in NGK

In NGK, Sai Pallavi played the character of Geetha Kumari, while Rakul Preet Singh appeared as Vanathi Thiyagarajan. The two characters were part of a layered narrative involving subtle romantic tension, both linked to the journey of Suriya’s protagonist. While the film was centred on political ambition and power struggles, the dynamic between the two actresses added an emotional undertone to the story.

From Political Drama to Mythological Epic

Now, seven years later, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh come together again, this time in a vastly different setting. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is an ambitious two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient Hindu epic, set for a worldwide release in November 2026. Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Sita, opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama, while Rakul Preet Singh plays Surpanakha, whose actions set off the central conflict between Rama and Ravana, played by Yash. The film also features Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana.

With the trailer already generating buzz, audiences are keenly anticipating how this new pairing of Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh will unfold on the grand mythological canvas of Ramayana.
