Key Points:
- Amit Shah Interview and his clear views on a dispute with China on LAC.
- The Indian defence forces are always prepared to respond to any violence.
- Both countries have recruited more than 50,000 troops each, along with specialized weapons and equipment.
- Our security forces and leadership are capable of protecting the sovereignty and border of the country.
Union Home Secretary Amit Shah has said that the government is taking all necessary military and diplomatic measures to fix the ongoing border standoff with China in Ladakh and is committed to maintaining the country’s sovereignty and stability.
Amit Shah in an Interview:
During an interview with a TV news channel on Saturday, Shah stated that the Indian defence forces are always prepared to respond to any violence. His remarks came days after Chinese President Xi Jinping asked People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops to prepare for war in eastern Ladakh amid ongoing tensions with India.
For every inch of our country, we are careful, no one can take that away … Our security forces and leadership are capable of protecting the sovereignty and border of the country,’ he said in a News18 Community interview. “Every nation (for war) is always ready. That’s the aim of preserving armies, to react to any abuse. In response to any specific remarks, I am not saying this, but India’s defence is always ready,’ he stated.
The Union Home Minister also mentioned that both countries’ armed forces speak to each other and that diplomatic lines of interaction are also available. On 13 October, the seventh round of talks took place between Indian and Chinese diplomats and military leaders, lasting more than 12 hours.
During the 7th round of talks between both countries:
Inside a joint press release, the day after the seventh round of talks among senior military commanders in Chushul India & China, the two sides agreed to continue their dialogue to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution to earlier disengagement at the East Ladakh Arena.
Just after the latest round of talks, they said that they had a clearer understanding of the role of each other in the sensitive region, even though the border row is now in its sixth month and attempts to disengage and de-escalate has made no breakthrough.
The two sides had a frank, in-depth, and lively exchange of views on disengagement in the western sector of the border areas between India and China throughout the line of actual control. They thought that these conversations were optimistic, constructive, and had a deeper understanding of the positions of each other,’ the statement said.
Shan on China Claims of Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh:
Shah was also asked whether, in a tit-for-tat reaction to China’s claim to Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, India should change its stance towards Tibet and Taiwan. Discussing this here is not correct. It’s a complicated problem with far-reaching effects. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar have cleared the role of India (in the case of China) on the floor of Parliament. That’s sufficient, I suppose. Talks are ongoing with China … ‘he said.
In eastern Ladakh, both countries have recruited more than 50,000 troops each, along with specialized weapons and equipment. The Indian Army and the PLA have made long-term plans in the sector, even as negotiations are ongoing at the military and diplomatic levels.
