Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) minister Nawab Malik filed another indictment against Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zone Director Sameer Wankhede. He claimed since 1964, NCB employees have violated the rules (behavior) of the central public service by doing business while on duty.
Wankhede had a hotel alcohol license from 1997-98 and operated a bar in Navi Mumbai. He said the permit was issued as a minor in 1997-98, which was again illegal. It was published when his father, Wankhede, was still in the service of the State Excise Agency. The information was kept secret when they entered the central government service. It wasn’t until 2017 that Wankhede stated that he and his father, who is a hotel but rented, own the heritage property, Malik claims.
However, Sameer Wankhede said he shared details of his property with his department and had nothing to hide.
Malik also shared documents confirming the allegations, including a report from the State Excise Agency stating. That a permit to serve alcohol in a hotel was issued on October 29, 1997, in the name of Sameer Wankhede. The document further shows that the license is renewed annually until February 3, 2021.
When the hotel liquor license was issued, Malik said Wankhede was a minor and 17 years and ten months old.
The NCP leader said he would file a complaint with the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the state’s excise department. And concerned departments saying Sameer Wankhede had no right to remain in service to the central government.
