Rohit Sharma has become the new ODI captain

Rohit Sharma new ODI captain While many netizens were disappointed by captain Kohli’s abrupt dismissal, others argued that Kohli should have been given more chances.

Rohit has been named captain of India’s One-Day International team, succeeding Virat Kohli. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the decision on Wednesday, and netizens reacted in various ways. Since Kohli decided to step down as captain after India’s T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year, Rohit Sharma has served as the T20 captain.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr. Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI and T20 teams going forward,” the BCCI said in a statement following the announcement of India’s Test team for the tour of South Africa.

Indian cricket fans are divided over the BCCI’s decision. While many were disappointed by captain Kohli’s sudden dismissal, others praised Rohit Sharma’s rise.

Meanwhile, several social media users congratulated Rohit Sharma on his appointment as the new ODI captain.

Virat Kohli succeeded MS Dhoni as India’s limited-overs captain in 2017 and led the team in 95 ODIs. After winning 65 matches, he had a 68 percent success rate in these matches. Kohli also led India to victories in the Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup.

According to reports, the BCCI members could not agree on two different captains for the limited-overs format. However, there was no reason for other captains, so it appears that everyone agreed on the same idea.

The committee is currently satisfice with Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. In such a situation, the BCCI wanted to move forward with this decision and make the Hitman the skipper for the limited-overs format.

Team India start their campaign on a high note under new coach Rahul Dravid, as the side led by Rohit Sharma won the T20I series against New Zealand at home 3-0.

While the coach and captain appear to have bonded, Dravid may find it challenging to work with different captains for limited overs. With less than two years until the 50-over World Cup, Dravid will prepare the team to win the trophy.
