Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was hit with a ₹12 lakh fine after his side MI kept a delayed over-rate during their IPL 2021 match against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on April 20 (Tuesday).

As the IPL stated:

“As it was his group’s first offence of the period under the IPL’s Code of Conduct identifying with least over rate offences, Mr Sharma was fined ₹12 lakh,” the IPL said.

As per the guidelines by IPL:

According to the IPL rules, the chief of the blundering group is docked ₹12 lakh in fine on the main case of delayed over-rate. 

On the second occurrence during the season, the fine for the skipper is multiplied ( ₹24 lakh) while every individual from playing XI is fined 25% of match expense or ₹6 lakh – whichever is lesser. 

At the point when the offence is submitted for the third time in a season, the commander needs to pay an expense of ₹30 lakh and serve a one-match boycott, while the rest of the individuals from the playing XI are accused of a fine of ₹12 lakh or 50% of match charge – whichever is lesser. 

MI captain Rohit Sharma fined Rs 12 lakh, may face one-match ban  in future.

By six wickets MI lost to DC:
