NCP Chief Sharad Pawar took a dig at the BJP for
taking its voters for granted and also ruled out rumors of a rift with Uddhav
Thackeray.
NCP Chief Sharad Pawar took a sly dig at the BJP and said that
politicians should not take voters for granted. Pawar reminded that even
powerful leaders like Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari
Vajpayee tasted
defeat in elections. Pawar says that the voters can see through you, your
speeches, and your attitude. If you reek of arrogance then for sure the voters
will decide to teach you a lesson. Pawar gave an example of former Maharashtra
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who during the last year’s assembly polls had said
“Mi punha yein,” i.e. “I will come back” which did not go down well among the
voters and reeked abundant arrogance.
Sharad Pawar says no rift among
the allies Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress:
Sharad Pawar in an interview with Shiv Sena leader and Executive Editor of Sena’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ put the rumors of a rift among the allies of the Maha Vikas Agadhi. Pawar said there was no “iota of truth” in reports about differences in Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress and that both Congress and NCP have and will fully back the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray led alliance.
Voters cannot be taken for
granted says Pawar:
Responding to a question on BJP’s
failure in the last assembly polls in Maharashtra, Pawar said,” In a democracy,
you cannot think that you will remain in power eternally. Voters will not
tolerate if they are taken for granted. Powerful leaders mass base with like Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee had been defeated. If
a politician crosses the line, the common man teaches us a lesson.” Sharad
Pawar also emphasized that no one likes a politician who takes a stand of “I
will come back to power”.
