Another biggest daily rise of 27,114 Coronavirus
cases registered; WHO praises Dharavi revival.
On 11th July 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally breached 8-lakh-mark, after recording
its biggest single-day count of fresh 27,114 cases in the last 24 hours. This
took the country’s Coronavirus tally to 820,916. 519 new deaths were
registered in the country which took its death toll to 22,123 as per the data presented
by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Recoveries zoom past
5-lakh-mark:
India showed progress in the number of recoveries as it went past the 5-lakh-mark. The total number of patients who recovered from the fatal virus climbed to 515,386 with the tally of active cases rose to 283,407. Between the active cases and recoveries now, there is a mammoth gap of 231979 cases. The recovery rate marginally rose to 62.78 percent in the country.
WHO praises Dharavi’s recovery:
World Health Organization (WHO)
on Friday, praised the miraculous recovery of the Dharavi area of Mumbai, which
reported zero cases yesterday. The highly dense area of Dharavi had sparked a huge number of cases in it and that
resulted in most cases in Mumbai. But since the last few days, with extensive
testing and isolation, Dharavi has been reporting very few cases. WHO said that
even in dense hotspots of COVID-19, can recover and contain the novel
Coronavirus. The global body said that aggressive action combined with national
unity and global solidarity can help us win the battle against the fatal virus.
Maharashtra still the worst
affected:
Maharashtra remained the
worst-affected state with 230,599 infections and 9667 deaths. Many parts of the
state have gone in a partial or complete lockdown for a few days as the
government struggles to contain the virus.
Globally over 12.5 million
people have been diagnosed with the virus and more than 560,000 have died.
