In addition to Sushil Kumar, 17 other people have been charge with murder, attempt murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, and other offenses, including criminal conspiracy.

On Wednesday, a Delhi court charged two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar with murder in the death of former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar in a property dispute brawl in May 2021. The court also filed charges against two fugitive defendants.

On the night of May 4, also 5, Kumar and his associates allegedly assaulted wrestler Dhankar and two of his friends, Sonu and Amit Kumar, over a property dispute. Dhankar, 23, died as a result of his injuries.

Sushil Kumar was name as the main accuse in the first charge sheet, file by the police on August 2, last year. According to the police, the motive was a property dispute. Kumar has been detain without bail since his arrest following the murder.

Sushil Kumar took bronze and silver medals in the Olympics.

Kumar took bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver in the 2012 London Olympics. In 2010, he became the first Indian to win a world wrestling title.

Kumar has several Gold Medals and handed the Queen’s Baton to (then) Prince Charles in the Queen’s Baton Relay for the 2010 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.
