On both Android and iOS, Google is rolling out noise cancellation for video calls on Google Meet, beginning with users of G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education.
On the Google Meet app, Google is adding noise cancellation for video meetings. The functionality is being rolled out on both Android and iOS. However, since Google is first taking it to G Suite Enterprise for Education and G Suite Enterprise users, some Google Meet users will have to wait a little longer for the functionality to hit them.
Therefore, if you do not use either G Suite Enterprise for Education or G Suite Enterprise, we recommend that you wait a bit before updating the software.
For now, this feature can be used only by clients of G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education.
During video calls, the noise cancellation help allows users access to clearer Audio. As this is such an essential feature, we expect Google to roll it out to all users of Google Meet quickly, but we do not yet have a timetable.
Google has confirmed that the noise cancellation function is shut off by default and must be shut on from the Call Settings menu. Users have to go to Audio from the Call Settings Menu and then toggle on Noise Cancellation.
By removing background noise, noise cancellation can help encourage improved Audio for video meetings and video calls.
On both Android and iOS, Google Meet will now intelligently philtre out background noise. This means that Meet will delete distractions from the Audio input of your mobile device automatically while still letting your voice through, Google explained on G Suite’s update feed.
This means you could be in a noisy space and yet manage to make your meetings and calls via it. With most of us still working from home, certain noisy conditions are beyond our influence, such as ongoing construction next door or noisy neighbours.
In these cases, a function like noise cancellation is of tremendous support.
